Heart Clinic expat cardiology

We are a Dutch private cardiology clinic offering expert cardiovascular assessment for a diverse range of symptoms

Many expats are referred to the Dutch Heart Clinic (HartKliniek) by general practitioners and other hospitals. More than half of all patients come from inside Amsterdam. Cardiac consultation, diagnosis, treatment and result can be completed, as far as possible, in a single visit to our outpatients department. We have a greater focus on the individual to be treated, both as a patient and as a person.

Making appointments

If you wish to see a cardiologist, you will need a referral from a general practitioner (GP). You will also need to show this referral to your insurance company if you wish the costs to be covered. Once you have a referral, you can make an appointment with us. You can still receive medical treatment or a cardiology check-up if you have no medical insurance and/or if you do not have a referral note from your GP. Heart Clinic does provide cardiac care to uninsured patients and non-referred patients. This is, however, subject to certain conditions. You are required to pay a fixed sum before you visit our clinic. You can arrange this at the front desk in one of our cardiologycenters or with our Administration Department. Our dedicated staff will explain the process/fees, and than send you a confirmation.

We also provide specialised examinations:

  • Driving licence
  • Company employees
  • Sportsmen & women

Cardiologist consultation fee

Professional fees charged in The Netherlands for specialist services are likely to be quite different compared to those in your own country. Therefore, your final bill may seem either relatively expensive or inexpensive to you. All fees are set in The Netherlands according to a pricing code called the DBC (diagnosis-treatment combination). Each diagnosis has its own DBC and fixed fee, which is an average of all visits and treatments associated with the diagnosis. Therefore, your final bill will vary depending upon the actual diagnosis and number of consultations you have had with the specialist. The bills you receive from Heart Clinic comply with the Dutch billing system and should be accepted by your Insurance provider.

We adhere to a strict 24-hour no-show / cancellation policy. Therefore, please be aware that unless we receive at least 24 hours notice by emailing us, prior to the cancellation of an appointment with one of our cardiologists, you will receive an invoice and be charged a no-show / cancellation fee. This fee is not usually reimbursed by your insurance company. Our no-show / cancellation fee is 65 euro.
